Sonneteer Campion

Yup, and the benz is even lower...my previous cartridge, the clearaudio concept MM was scraping the lower limit around 3.3V, but yeah, I'll have to see.

If anyone has any advise regarding modifications for higher gain, let me know though!

The designers (Remo and Haider) are members here. Send them a PM.

You will just have to try it. I found that the output of the Dyn 10x5 was too low for me with the Campion. I prefer 4mV and above with that phono stage.

I would bet an Ortofon Black would be great with your TT and that Sonneteer amp...:smoke:

The Sonneteer Campion has landed on the Box rack and I think I owe Remo and Haider an apology. The haste with which I changed out the Campion was due to what I perceived (incorrectly) as economic necessity. Amazing what your mind will let you believe when you need to. Yesterday in a wonderful and relaxed set of circumstances, and with nothing to win or lose, I placed the ole Campion on the Box rack. I can't believe that I had convinced myself that the Brio-R was as good (let alone better) than the Campion. Even though I have owned the Campion and Alabaster in the past, I forgot just how good they really are. With the system in the living room with space to breath, I comfortably reached volumes that I would not normally listen to music. I will be listening again this weekend and will report back.

Art,

That's great news, I'm happy to hear she found her way back home, as I was beginning to think about getting her as a backup for my tube Integrated's, as we all know - tubes have a tendency to need repairs/mods on occasion, and it would be nice to have a reliable backup around the crib just in case.

But, I'm going after a Naim UnitiQute 2 to serve primarily as a server, but can if something goes wrong with said tube Integrated's?, can fill their spots within minutes.

And lastly, I know that we haven't always seen eye to eye on some matters, but it's just that we are both passionate about our beliefs or stance on things as they relate to our selective choices, and each need to respect one another as individuals and know that we all in fact do hear things differently, and that's a great thing in itself, otherwise we'd all own the same systems.

I hold no ill will towards the person, as in so much the words exchanged from time to time out of defense, yet I wish you and yours all the best in life, and pray that one of these days, all is forgiven?, as life is far to short to have enemies or dislikes because we can differ in someways, yet remain human within our hearts.

Be well,
:D_o scar

Oh man a Qute 2. Very nice, Oscar.

BTW, I don't hold on to "stuff". Grudges are for folks who have nothing better to do. Life is far too short for that kind of nonsense. I got a close-up look at just how short when my daughter passed.

Salaam, Oscar.

That's interesting, Art.

I think I misunderstood or missed something as I thought you had already sold your Sonneteer Campion. (good to see you didn't)

Your story sounds a bit familiar...

As you may've read on the UK Naim forum I got me a mint (demo) Nait 5si, a few months ago.
I was impressed with it from the start (still am) and also pleasantly surprised how well it matched my Penaudio Rebel's sonically.

Nevertheless, I decided to keep the Sonneteer for a while, as some 'little voice in my head' warned me I might regret it if I sold it in a hurry.
Now, about 2 months later, eventhough I really like the Naim, I still have a slight preference for the Sonneteer.
On higher volume levels the Naim wins, with more power and control, but at modest, late-night volume levels (often my situation) the Sonneteer sounds a bit more airy, and wins when it comes to pure musical involvement.
Yes,...those Sonneteer's amps are pretty special.

Looking forward to read your findings. :)

Cheers,
Alco

Salaam Art,

First off, I'm very sorry to hear about the passing of your daughter, you've my heartfelt condolences, and pray all is well with the rest of your loved ones.

I also apologize for the late response, as we had a power outage in our area that later 35 hours, and the power was just restored at 4:41am this morning.

Man, while I'm big size wise, I'm not that big, to realize when I'm wrong, yet have to be more aware of just not thinking before I open my mouth, or put fingers to pad, you've always been an okay guy by me, and truth be told, in our tiny little sectors of the cosmic, we are much deeper then that. I shall be more conscious of said words or actions, I promise.

Now, back to your newfound/rediscovered joy, I'm glad you're hearing for what it is, not what it isn't!, as of late I've having very fond memories of just how special it was, it offered a sort of refinement about its overall character that one doesn't come across everyday - in that it's forgiving of less then prefect pressings, yet responsive enough to hold ones attention for hours and hours on end ( are you listening Arco? ) whereas some come across as offering a greater sense of resolution, yet not when the music itself is meant to have a purpose or be felt on a purely emotional level.

In hindsight, it's a very very very musical integrated to say the least, and I'm happy for one, that you came full circle knowing what you had all along.

And - Yes a Qute 2, is in my future, as playing LPs has become all to difficult for me since November 2011, and having something more in hand touching a screen has become normal of late, but in essence the Hi-Rez thing caught me by surprise, and having exchanged emails on more then a few occasions with TimF, made the choice logical. As long as I'm still able to enough music........., I'm down with it.

Be thee well Art, be thee well.

Cool. Any plan to change it at this stage? Or do you intend to keep them together for a while?

If I stick with vinyl I will probably have it for a while. At least until I can afford to upgrade rather than go lateral. If I don't stick with vinyl the upgrade might happen earlier. As for now I am really happy with the sound. The Luxman CD player has been a great addition.
