Sonrise speakers any good?

No affiliation or interest but as a huge Speakerlab fan ( 7s) I see that these speakers do look like the7s. Are these any good??

Can a mod plse move? Again no intention to discuss value or price but just sonic opinions on this brand that I ve never heard of

I vaguely remember seeing some Sonrise speakers at one of the old CES trade shows in downtown Chicago, around 1980. It was difficult to make a judgement regarding the sound, but they certainly were not bad. And the overall quality looked excellent.

I did notice am that the cabinets look like solid maple wood??? Agian i can see the speakerlab 7 wa was inspired maybe by these .No idea if the drivers at high quality or not .

I guess speakerlab might have been inspired but improved the original design. In any case the sunrise speakers seem to be taken off craigslist . Maybe an aker?

I saw a pair once and they seemed like decent speakers but nothing special. Drivers were parts bin stuff.

Not trying to resurrect an old thread, but I picked up this pair of Sonrise speakers off Craig's list for next to nothing. I am extremely impressed. The highs are amazing, very solid bass and good, clean mids. Heavy as all get out. I might mod mine, because the foam on one midrange is falling apart. Thinking of using Phillips dome mids. Anyways, just my $.02.

You can get foam kits for those midranges. Peerless KO40MRF, same driver used in the Gale 401. Easy job and a fine sounding midrange. Those look for all the world like something out of the old Gold Sound catalog from around 1980.

Those Peerless KO40MRF mids are well worth saving. I suggest that you install or have someone install new surrounds and use them as-is. The crossovers would probably benefit from new capacitors as well. Those look like they should be pretty good speakers to me, nice find.
