Sony CDP-X33ES - How come nobody told me CDs could sound this good?

New relay in, sounds great on both channels again.

FWIW the TE / Axiom C93419 relay functions as a direct replacement for the original NEC.

Also added some Vishay 0.01uF MKP18 caps across C406/C506 - seems OK so far, no real critical listening yet.

Hello. I bought this player from ebay month ago, great sound and works great but something strange happened with display. Is it going dead? Picture show all gliches. And does this decks have some thing like antishock system?

Got another screen, witch was better condition, almost no gliches. But something interesting happened to playback. When just power on and wait, screen is quite normal. At moment when hit play button and relay click, pixels in display start gliches. Other is that transistor what is with bigest heatsink near to biggest caps is wery hot. Third is someone was made somekind upgrade with caps solder side, where to solder points are pararel conected cube plastic caps like filter.

My wildly out there theory. Either the motor or the relay or something else is drawing too much current when play is pressed or the voltage regulation of the LCD or the main power supply is low, the supply voltage drops, and the low voltage causes the LCD to act funky.

Check the voltage rail that powers the tray motor and the LCD. If you're itching for a reason to do a recap of at least the power supply and decoupling caps, this would be a good shotgun solution

Conector what goes to display, there is 30v and 5 volts at service manual. Realy is 37volts and 4.96 volts. Here are fotos of my main board, real condition

Display conector has two voltages 30v and two 5v lines, realy there are 37volts and 4.96 volts both. Real condition of main board in foto. Tranzistor what is heating are right next to battery, first. What else i find that red relay is heating to, did he need to heat?

Looks like someone went a bit overboard with the power supply decoupling and added extra caps, one of which probably went bad (or was in the wrong place).

Anyway good to know your issue is sorted

Yes, 4 of them was bad, resistance goes from kilooms to megaoms, and all of them was 110nf, I dont know what it was of upgrade mod best is factory condition, what i like.
Ebay masters

Hello again. Buy from ebay sony str-gx707es receiver. Vizual and tehnical like new and fully working. Now starts interesting story- connect speakers and turn on. Connect to my cdp-x33es player and sound was like desert. Mid and high was ok but bass was so poor. Regulators bass and treble was on zerro position. Even conect to Tc-K690 cassete player, same story. When turn bass regulator to max then speakers start to give nice bass. But Then connect headphones pioneer se-m531 and sound was super perfect even bass was what need at zero position bass. Feels like caps have lost its capability from years, because everything looks like from factory and was full with dust.

Now i look at display picture and there are db segment. May be there are sound setup what i dont realize. Remonte control i dont have.

Ordered remote RM-s103 orginal for my gx-707es. now i tested it and almost all works but not DBFB what i realy need for better sound, or surround. when i look in camera and test infrared lamp, all buttons works. What now to do?

There are 2 big caps 10k uf 56v change to 12k uf 68v. But now i start to think that i maybe make big mistake with all electric caps- i change to new but same specification.
