I have been repairing 90's Sony minisets for a while. I like them and they're very easy to take apart. All screws. Now I have one that is particularly nice, it's got tape, minidisc and CD. The CMT-CP500MD, or HCD-CP500MD. Minidisc's got MDLP and double speed copy. Anyway, all that tape and MD drives needed were some belts. The CD drive, well, it looks like the tray mechanism is stuck. It locks up when you push the open button. And there's a lot of play.
So, I want to swap the CD drive for a new one. It seems, with these Sony mini sets, the CD drive always seems to give up first. Is there any place to get them?
Unit: HCD-CP500MD or CMT-CP500MD
In the service manual it says:
Model Name Using Similar Mechanism New
CD Mechanism Type CDM55F-K4BD43
Base Unit Type BU-K4BD43
Optical Pick-up Type KSM-213DHAP
I know there is one listed on a famous chinese website. It looks similar. And too expensive to take a gamble it will fit.
