Now there's one less of that particular Sony R2R- and so the value of those still alive just went up. Some people think destruction is "cool"- the Huns, the Vandals, and this guy and his family...

Ah, it was just an old, useless and obsolete tool. The guy was being practical by getting rid of it.

Just because some fella doesn't share our particular screwball enthusiasms doesn't mean he's a screwball.

Maybe he simply didn't want to bother, maybe his time is worth more than what he'd get selling it, if he could sell it. Going by what I've seen on this site alot of guys want things but not alot of guys want to pay much for them.

In any event It was his machine and his time. Evidently the machine had more entertainment value being destroyed than being used to play tapes. And that is what such machines are for, entertainment.
