SONY SS G5 Crossover

Hi Everyone! Just bought these speakers in very good condition, never opened. Just thinking about sense to change capacitors in crossover. All sound good but it almost 50 years. Before i had ss 5050 and after recap those sound exactly the same and capacitors was in very good condition. I want to hear Your opinion. Thanks!

you can easily spend more on cross over parts than what the speaker is worth. If you want to upgrade, one option is to replace those iron core inductors for the tweeter and midrange with copper air core inductors of the same value.
 
I want to keep original parts except capacitors (electrolityc) on original specs. I care about efficiency but on this moment sound good but maybe will be better :)

You can replace the stacked electrolytic caps with non-polar ones. Like C1 and C2, which are two 47mfd/50VDC electrolytic capacitors connected in series (+) to (+), with the negative terminals parallel to the woofer, using one 47mfd non-polar capacitor rated for at least 50VDC. This can be done for C3 and C4. C5 and C6, C7 and C8. C10 and C11.

This may improve the sonic performance and the life of those caps. :idea:

Size is the only issue, as non-polar caps are bigger than their electrolytic counterparts.
