You'll be a happy camper if you pick those up. I have the SS-M9ED's and they are easily the best speakers I've ever owned, and one of the best I've ever heard. What really surprised me about them is how small they are in person, or at least how small they appear. The tapered cabinet has a lot to do with that perception I'm sure.

I woke up to an email from the seller this morning asking me when a good time would be this week for a meet. If i get them I'll post photos.

Simple replacement of the voicecoil assembly. They are OOS right now, but can be backordered.

The mids are hard to find, but the correct mid-wooder is the Seas P14-RCY. Hopefully you can just repair the dust cap.

Just brought them in, almost had a heart attack and killed the wife since she had one end. They look pretty good all cleaned up, grill cloths are not in great shape, but he included the manual and stuck to his price of $250.
Funny thing is he doesnt think there is anything wrong other than the dust cap, we'll see when i check them out tomorrow.

Nice! If you order the tweeter from Madisound, get a couple yards of their black grill fabric as well. The grill fabric is easy to replace on the SS-M9. Virtually all of them need replacing. I guess the wire frame is hard on the fabric. I changed mine once shortly after purchasing, and they already need to be re-done because it is pulling apart on one of the top corners again. I won't stretch them as tight when I do it again. Amazing Goop is the best adhesive for grill fabric in my opinion. Just use sparingly or you will have an ugly mess.

Well i hooked them and to my surprise there is nothing wrong with these sonically, they sound fantastic, all drivers are working without issue. The only problem is the dimpled tweeter and missing dustcover on the mid, does anyone have any suggestions on what to use for the dustcover on the mid?

They have a 5" poly dust cap. Says use superglue.

BTW, spikes really help the sound of these speakers. I found that the Large size Spike Feet from Percy Audio was a perfect fit for not too much money ($7.50 for a set of 4). They are a simple steel spike with the proper thread size (3/8/-16) which isn't easy to find. See pg 18 of his catalog, very bottom of page.

Even if it's working well, I think I'd replace that tweeter diaphragm while it's available. Who knows what the future will hold...

Congratulations! That is one of the better purchases I've read about in a long time, and I'm happy the seller stuck to his listed price for you. Happy listening! If they're like the M7s but more, then you're really in for something great. They'll probably really respond to changes in position and distance from walls, toe-in, and spikes (as mentioned).

I first tried running them with a pair of Sentec 60watt mono blocks which sounded really nice. Today i hooked them up to my Yamaha MX-1000u and these things really came alive, got to say they are the best sounding speaker I've ever had.

Very nice. I had a friend of mine come over to help me bring mine up the stairs - I didn't want to injure my wife!

The Minwax cherry stain marker (available at home depot) is a perfect match if you have any scratches etc.
