hi guys,i have been offering by a thrift shop a pioneer spec-2 and a sony ta-n80es power amplifier, both flagship model, but which is better?Sound quality and power.
Those are two fine amplifiers with more than enough wattage for the vast majority of speakers. It's fine advice to pick up both of them even if you only keep one long term. Either or both may need service and possible recapping, too.

Got it. Well, if they're both in good working condition, you can't go too wrong. The Sony is about a decade newer, if that helps at all in your deliberating. Good luck!

Agreed with the others, the Pioneer is more well known and therefore an easier sale. I wish you could tell us the prices but alas, this is Solid State and not D and S.
The Sony Es amps are very good. However if you ever wish to either sell or unit needs recap in the future, the money spent on recap will pay off more in the pioneers favor. If you are solely looking for sonics then it's a toss up.
agree.
i am a huge sony fan but this time i would go with the pioneer. especially if you may sell it in the future.
the good thing with sony is that it is cheap. the bad thing with sony is it is cheap. you may not be able to recover the money you would sink in it should you decide to sell it in the future.
I don't think that you'll have a problem selling either. I am an ES fan, but the VU meters, and silver face of the Spec 2 would be irresistible. I would go with the Spec 2.
Now if it was between a TA-N77ES, and the Spec 2...
