SoTa Pyxi MM version test thread

What loading choices, one fixed, two switchable, would be best for a MM/MI/HOMC only phono stage?

Nashou: I see. But then again, afaik regular users have some more restrictions (at least regarding editing time limits & deleting own threads) than subscribers.

Those options no longer exist. They did when the thread was first opened. Perhaps I need to subscribe.
I stopped being a subscriber when the DIY stuff ended.

So, I finally have some time. My dinner is ready and by my side, the wife and youngest daughter are out galivanting, and I'm channeling Stanley Kubrick- listening to Gyorgy Ligeti.
I've finished with Musica ricercata and Lontano, now it's Atmospheres, soon to be followed by San Francisco Polyphony and Lux Aeterna.
The other members of the family hate his work, so it's a bit of a guilty pleasure...
In any event,
the currently proposed loading options are,
47k, 10k, 1k.
75k, 47k, 29k, 23k
62k, 47k, 38k, 32k

Any more suggestions before I construct a poll?

And how many will hear a difference.

With my MM Acutex Tri-Pole carts I can hear the difference on my DIY load options from 47k, 68k,75k and 100k.

Reason is on some records I prefer different settings to bring out midrange on highs .

Any way to get 100k in there? maybe the middle one and remove the 29k ?
It's not as simple as that. There are only three resistors in combination, one fixed and two switchable, and 47k has to be included as one of the combinations.
So, if one is 100k. the second has to be 91k. to give 47 (.6)k and the third can be used to create a third and potentially a fourth somewhat distinct value.

Looks good. Probably 75k is good enough instead of 100k, I realize it is hard to put 100k and have other usable values as well.

Wyn: I'd suspect, that adding the poll to an already existing thread might not have been the best idea - especially as the thread title also wouldn't instantly reveal the topic of the poll. Hence I'd suggest another try in a new thread with matching title, as a decision based on merely 5 votes to me would seem to have no proper basis.

Ok. It appears that the poll has decided and all interested parties have requested the Pyxi MM test unit.
Not all will be able to participate as more offers were received than I expected, and I've decided to restrict the group to the East of the Rocky Mountains to minimize shipping costs.
In a while I will contact all that are on the abbreviated list and try and get a consensus on how the process will unfold.
Thanks again!

In any case, there will be eight testers in all, assuming everyone agrees to the process, and I'll be sending notices out in the next few days.
I'll define the order, and each listener has to agree to be willing to ship, at their own cost, to the next in line, no more than one week after receiving the unit, and to providing their impressions on this forum.
Once more, I thank each of you for being willing to participate in this exercise.

Hi! I have the new front and rear panels for the MM unit, and I have time to start the process. Is everyone comfortable with me listing the testers on this thread and making the arrangements that way, or would you prefer to do it by PM? The PM way would be far less convenient unless someone knows how to have nine participants in a single PM exchange.
