Speaker Coating Question (JBL L100)

This was at a “public storage” on the 4th floor with onsite security, and you have to use a pin to even access the property. It was 100000% some of the employees. I asked for camera footage and they would not help me and said I’d have to subpoena them for it. Called the police they said they were to busy as it was New Year’s Eve, so we had to wait until the next day to file a report. The officer finally shows up and says “it’s an empty locker, what do you want me to do”? I said take a report, he took a few minutes to write something down so that it would provide a case #. Lesson learned. Don’t store valuable items at Public Storage…
I had a friend Nak gear stolen from Public Storage. The police did do an investigation (several customers lost items around the same time).

The friend told me that a couple of guys would rent a storage unit. Then, when no one was looking (this is before cameras), they would pry open the locks with crowbars. Steal whatever they can, then store it in their locker. I guess the cop opened their locker and found many of the stolen items.

But not the Naks. Those were prolly quickly sold. :(

I know these photos probably don't give the impression of anything wrong, but I marked the area that feels smooth.

It's probably crazy to worry about this, but I care a lot about this gift really want to make sure I take care of these speakers
I’ve restored 60+ JBLs in the last 20 years for fun. Personally, if it was my pair, I’d leave it. Trying to reapply new material will only worsen the problem. Color mismatch etc.

Since posting, I've probably listened to every piece of music or movie I own and the conclusion I've come to is that I can't tell in the slightest if anything is wrong with them. So I agree!

I love my Martin, but I've got an old Ovation that was passed down to me by my dad. It sounds amazing and smells heavily of cigarettes so I end up playing it more often since it reminds me of him lol.
I bought a Taylor GS Mini to noodle around with while watching TV or surfing the web. It has an amazing good tone. Nice action for a mini.
