Well.... scratch all that :tears:
What's the opposite of a scroe?
Looks like I just got myself a pair of large, hacked speaker cabinets.
What was advertised:
What I got:
The woofer in one (pictured above) is a Radio Shack Realistic woofer that had no dust cap at all (voice coil was completely exposed) I glued on an extra one I happened to have.
The woofer in the other one is some no name deal with a tiny magnet. I doubt either of them can handle anything close to the advertised specs.
And the midranges on both were also replaced with some crap that doesn't even fit the enclosure (as you can see on the photo)
This is the first bad dealing I've had with audio gear. And the thing that really pisses me off, is that I was actually pretty excited to hear how they sounded.
I guess it serves me right for:
1. Traveling outside my area
2. Buying speakers in the dark
3. Not bothering to audition them or even take off the grills to look at them since they were only $50 and figured it wasn't worth the effort.
4. Not being more suspicious that the photo used of the speakers with the grills off was taken from somewhere else online.
So I guess the seller is either a mental case, a liar/scammer or picked them up at a GW for $15 and was too lazy to even bother taking the grills off or listen to them?
Needless to say, I've learned (perhaps re-learned) some valuable lessons, and it's unfortunately not worth messing with over $50.
Anyone have any cool ideas on what drivers/mods might be interesting to try with these cabinets?
