Speaker ID request

These have no identifying label anywhere. Pretty hefty cabs. Anyone have a guess what they are? Thanks in advance...

It's late and I'd have to look in the basement, but they look like the Morel mlp 202's that I just picked up at a GW. I believe mine had 5 way binding posts. The woofer is distinctive and need refoaming.

I'm thinking the same thing about those cabs. Well-built, but still showing their DIY stripes around the edges.

Here is the updated model under a new name. I believe Morel US lost a court case
with Morel Israel.

You guys called it! Unfortunately the woofer was missing altogether in the other speaker. Time to do some searching...

Maybe on the component ID. But, they are all wet on the cabinet being DIY.

The cabinets were made by a company called AMS Enterprises. http://ams-enterprises.com/aboutus.html

The original vendor for the cabinets, as well as the driver load is an AK site sponsor, and advertises at the bottom of this page. MCM Electronics.

I wish MCM, and Parts Express too, would archive their old catalogs.

I've been dealing with MCM off and on since 1980/81. They have had some pretty unique offerings over the years.

morel in woodstyle cabs, probably all parts sold by madisound in the early 90's. i built a speaker similar to this one with all that. i remember when morel was using foam surrounds to get the Fs down on their woofers.

woodstyle cabs were great for the money and my current speakers use them with a little extra bracing.

Hope you can resurrect them, probably a great sounding speaker. I think Madisound may sell the diaphragm kits. I have rebuilt some Morel tweeters but it's been awhile.

Thanks for all the info and encouragement. I ended up picking up a used set of MW-162 woofers on the auction site that have rubber surrounds, and got them installed this morning. The one woofer that needed refoaming was an MW-160 made in Israel, like the tweeter, whereas the newer MW-162 has a manufacture date of 1994 and was made in England. This is a great-sounding set of bookshelves!
