Putting new equipment in a 1964 Magnavox console. Had two 5 inch mids pointing forward and a 12 woofer pointing out the side. That configuration for left and right side. They were not enclosed from behind, just in the cabinet itself.
Thinking to build boxes around them for better sound quality. Will have a new turntable and think the woofers in the cabinet are a bad idea for rumble.
Questions/ concerns I need advice on are:
1. Sites, plans etc to help design the boxes. Subs too if outside the unit.
2. If Subs in unit, how to eliminate the rumble or potential of. The woofers point sideways which makes little sense so why even do that.
3. With the two 5 inch speakers I have some height so maybe a 5x7 or larger car type speaker system with a tweeter?
4. Crossovers and whatever I will need for sub.
Think that’s it, if you have other stuff I’m missing please add in.
Thanks
Frank
