Speaker wire

You are well on your way, nothing wrong with Rean connects, they are not my faves but..

Currently listening to 2534, and Switchcraft 3502, if I remember ..
It was a bit of a pain to work with, but keeping phono IC’s minimal length, they work well..

Listening to Doors clean vintage pressing, carries the weight.
Yes, I feel synergy matters most, and use IC’s and cabling as…

I am certain, My opinions will garner…

I wanted to like Canare, unfortunately they never impressed me.

Moving forward —- we go.

“When the music’s over —- Turn out the lights.”

Best to you…

What do you do with the third conductor in the 2534?

I think you are referring to the shield.
The end going to your source, ie turntable, cd player etc is soldered to the barrel end of the rca, while the end going to your pre, or amp input is floated, ie: left unconnected.

I was taught this method long ago, and don’t remember the source, I think it is a Japanese thing.
If I get a bit of time later I will pull one of mine and get a pic of it for you. I also really like Cardas eutectic solder, it flows very nicely, and leaves a shiny joint, I guess I’m just used to using it, and don’t forget the flux, I use Cardas as well.

Happy Listening, yard work calls for me….

I use plain old 12g speaker wire from Parts Express. Nothing fancy and crimp fork connectors which work well with my Crown amps and commercial inputs to the speakers. I could get away with a smaller gauge but there are times I have some pretty large systems hooked up and better safe then sorry. I tinker a lot so banana plugs are out because they can become loose gradually and start messing with your sound quality. I fail to see the benefit of expensive wires. At times I have had listeners over who tell me about their great wires. I ask them to bring them next time they come over but somehow they never do. I figure I know why.

Seems pretty reasonable. I just want it to be really soft and pliable. That's really what my post was asking if people had any opinions about working with or using any specific cable. All of the cables being discussed are under $5/ft which is basically in the good, reliable speaker wire category.
