i think the old speakerlab is really dead and no chance to come back even if I think there is a market..just me :(
Again IMHO one of the most underestimated brands out there!
 
i have a pair of the das 7 speakers from 1990 1992

they sound great to me

powering them with a little technics su v9 amp

120w per ch at .003% thd

they say 275w on the back

the v9 is plenty for now

i need to recap my sevins
 
I just ordered a pair of s7s ... Will see how they are. They are one of the last 7s ever made (83?): all drivers are white poly ( yes they are the real deal not add ons)
 
The last incarnation of the Speakerlab 7s did not have horns due to a lawsuit with Klipsh. The mid was a 6.5'' and the tweeter was a Fosters leaf tweeter. I own a a pair of WA7s that replaced my das 7s which now live in the garage not hocked up. I loved my das 7s but in a side by side comparison the das 7s were disappointing. I have not heard this Super 7 but I love the Fosters leaf tweeter in other Speakerlab speakers I own. I would like your opinion of how the das 7s compare with the super 7s.
 
Check out my thread on AK last week where I discussed the difference between my current SL 4s and the super 7s. One person who had all 4 series of the SL 7s mentioned that the super 7 are rarest but the WA are the kings in his opinion. Will let you know
 
I traded for a pair of Speakerlab 7WA's awhile back. They are the factory walnut enclosures. My son uses them in his room. They are in near mint condition. We don't miss the JBL L88's that we traded a bit!:no: They sound awesome!

If you ever pull the drivers in your das7s would you be so kind as to post all of the part numbers? In fact I'll even be so bold as to ask that you carefully peel back the Speakerlab sticker on one of each and look to see if there are any OEM markings under them. It would be very interesting to know exactly what is in those das speakers.

I have never heard this, but that doesn't mean anything:D
What I did hear was that the patent ran out for the cornerhorns and Speakerlab decided it would be cool to try. I had always assumed that they went away from horns because of the influence of Nestorovic and his love of the leaf/ ribbon tweeter. Graebener was always experimenting with planar drivers also. I just figured it was time to try something different. I own a pair of 78' vintage 7's and they are great, just not as audiophile as my 50's or my 40's...... But I could be wrong..... just ask my wife:D

I would love to know what is the sonic difference between the 7 WA and the s7s with the leaf tweeter. Anyone?

I do not remember any stickers on my bass drivers
I will take my das 7s apart soon

I need to do the caps in the crossovers
Put gaskets behind the bass drivers

My das 7's are ported and have a dome tweeter
They say 275 watts 4 ohms on the back
Speakerlabs site said 94db 1w 1m
Made 1990 to 1992 - i think
I wonder how they stack up compared to older versions
They sure sound good to me
Scary some times - can make ya jump or startle ya :D

All the 7's that I'm aware of are 3 way, but have 4 drivers, with the two woofers sharing the same signal in the crossover. The 12" & 10" woofer give roughly the same cone surface area as a single 15" driver, with fewer problems.
 
I think the 12 inch driver high frequency cutoff is lower than the 10 inch driver
I could be wrong
 
The DAS7 is a 4 way speaker.... The original horn 7, the 7wa, and the super 7 are all 3 ways with the 10" and 12" drivers run together. The DAS7 rolls the 12" off at 180hz......It is also the only ported one of the bunch.
