Specs for Advent Prodigy Tower Speakers

Well that must be the difference...mine are the original Legacy.

What might be the purpose in the selectibility?

I suspect they are meant to run at 6 ohms optimally, but can be run at 8 if two pair of speakers are driven...just conjecture.

The woofers have an extra pair of wires running to them. I saw this when I re-foamed 'em.

Legacy III
Switchable 6 ohms or 8 ohms
6 ohms: 10-100 watts
8 ohms: 10-80 watts
recommended power, switching also changes the crossover frequency= 2kHz Legacy II (6 ohms) Vs. Legacy III = 2.5kHz (8 ohms)

Great find!
I too have many copies of the included owner's manual/tech sheet that are included with the Prodigy Tower speakers.

I use them for my front left/right channels and two for center channels sitting horizontally beneath the TV. The front left/right Prodigy Towers are sitting on top of two Advent sub-10 subwoofers.

Prodigy Towers were my third pair of real speakers back in the 90s after the Realistic Minimus 7 and the Technics SB-CR77. I remember being surprised by the amount of bass they put out. Sweet highs, Mids were smooth and pleasant. Sounded a little like an older Advent or KLH with slightly better highs.

My only gripe was their "in between" height.

Great little speakers. I owned them in the same house as some Dynaudios and both pairs made me smile.
