Spotting audio gear in the movies, TV, etc.

I actually grabbed a screenshot from that episode and uploaded it a while back to share on another community.

There is a Cambridge Audio network player sitting on top of what I believe must be one of their integrated amplifiers, with a Thorens table? sitting on top of the stack.
Later on in the episode there is another shot of the gear but I didn't bother getting another screenshot of that.
I can load up the episode again if wanted and get a snap from the end of the episode as the headshell/cartridge clearly shows the Thorens name.

Edit: Forgot to mention that there is an awful lot of albums sitting on the shelves and it makes me wonder if there are any treasures hiding in there? A lot of the stuff I can read points towards Howard being a Jazzman.

And I also grabbed a screenshot from the TV show Elementary that has the best overview of Sherlockes McIntosh and Energy Veritas system that I've seen so far while watching the show.

Cool! I love 'Elementary,' so how the hell did I miss the McIntosh system hiding there in plain sight?

There was a thread similar to this hear at AK awhile ago I can't find so here's some I remember.

"The Departed", Matt Damon's character's apartment had some modern McIntosh gear.

"High Fidelity" John Cusack's character's apartment had If I remember correctly some vintage Sansui gear not sure what TT he had though.

There was a Jason Statham movie were he had a tube amp and a pretty esoteric high-end TT

check out 'everybody wants some', I think on netflix, set in 1980, its the timeline sequel to dazed and confused.

also, check out the appliance store in 'that thing you do' when their song hits the radio, if you are into old tube sets you will recognize a bunch.

Yeah, I recall seeing a Marantz 4270. At least I think that was the model number. I remember that it was a quad receiver.

You can quite often catch glimpses of the gear in the background when they are on the main floor.
It's always stood out pretty well to me since the Mac gear is usually lit up and the speakers are pretty noticeable with the exposed drivers!

Here is another quickly found image on the internet that shows the Mac gear a bit better.

When ever they show him listening to music when he's working on a case or sulking just knowing the gear that is supposed to be playing the music makes me think it's really cranked up and sounding good, and annoying Watson.

He also has a stereo in the basement that you can see every so often, I seem to remember it just looking to be an older silver face receiver with a pair of what look to be some Northeastern boxy speakers from that era.

I'll have to keep an eye out for that basement system again whenever the new season comes out.

Mrs Z and I were watching The Flash last night . During an intense scene , I noticed some speakers in the back ground and blurted out , ohh I wonder what those speakers were? I heard a snort from across from the room . Made me smile .

Here's the Marantz receiver in Everybody Wants Some, along with a Pioneer turntable.
