Not with 36 tweeters per side with vertical and horizontal line arrays. The XR19 sits inverted on XRT20 so its elipse of tweeters
are at design intention height. The Vertical array gives pointing the horizontal adss sound stage

Tall, wide and deep. Clarity and bass slam.

Beautiful speakers and set-up. But, I don't see any McIntosh amps to go with the McIntosh speakers!!!

Also, have you ever tried the tweeter array to the outsides of the woofer/mid columns? It seems like that would open up the high end, and improve treble dispersion. Wider channel separation as frequency increases! Otherwise, awesome! I'd love to hear those!!! :yes::yes::yes:

Oh yea, stacked speakers. One of these days, I'm going to find a second pair of AR90s, and stack all 4, tweeter to tweeter! Or at least, an inverted pair ofAR92s! Sweet...!!! :thmbsp:

I've run 2 pairs of KEF 104ab's and tried them with bottom tweets up and top tweets down, and also tried them a a simple stack, which did sound better.
Currently, I'm running JBL 4312's on the bottom and 4311B's on the top (basically tweets to tweets) and the lower pair is 16" off the floor. I think this may be too loud!

Don't believe this will be of any real help but a couple of years ago I tried stacking two pair of Paradigm Mini Monitors. It was for simple bedroom system to be used only as background music. I didn't want to employ a sub but I did want a bit more bass and I had heard that stacking two identical pair of speakers in some cases would produce a better bass response. At that time I was told to invert the top pair so there was one woofer on the bottom and one at the top of the stack. I wasn't so sure of this method so I first stacked them with both speakers in a normal position. I listened to a piece of music that had bass I was very familiar with with them that way. Then I reversed the two top speakers as I had been told to do. Upon listening to that same piece of music I was pleasantly surprised to hear more bass in the room and even a tad cleaner and stronger than before. So that's the way I kept them till I replaced the speakers with a different pair along with a sub. That's about all I can add to this thread. It worked in my case but it may not depending on the speakers used and/or the position/area of the room they are located......................

I have a setup with EV Sentry III's on the bottom, Sentry 500's in the middle and Sentry 100A's on top. The bottom two are bi-amped. I can run them all at the same time or in any combination I choose. To say it sounds great is an understatement.

Stacking New Large Advents and KLH Model 5's

I have been looking for another set of New Large Advents in Walnut to stack with my existing set. I ran across a really nice set of KLH Model 5's that look very similar. I really like their sound...A lot. Very close to the Advent's but they seem to have more of the mid-range that the Advents are somewhat lacking. I can't decide if they would compliment each other or if they would have a negative effect on each other? Anyone else tried this? Something similar?

I actually prefer just one pair of OLA's versus two stacked pairs. I ran a stacked setup for a while and ended up just using the top set of speakers most of the time. With both sets running it seemed like the tweeters could not keep up. The bass more than doubles with two pairs. I can see how alot of people would like it. I ended up ditching the bottom pair and putting the top pair on stands that were the same height as when they were stacked.
I still run the one pair and really like them.

Yeah, but then you'd only be able to hear the top pair ........ Or none.



Plus, you'd never get the melted butter and maple syrup out of the grillwork, and you'd probably be full after the second speaker anyway. Advents are filling, I heard. Wait, are we talking about REAL Maine maple syrup at room temperature?
