Stands for KEF C200SW+C15

Hey all,

Yesterday I brought home a combo set of C15's + their (kinda) sub counterparts, the C200SW's.

I found an old brochure that highlights the KEF C series. They used to sell stands separately that attach to the back of the SW's for the C15's rest on top of - please reference screenshots below. The stands are called-out as KB200's in the brochure but i cant seem to find anything about these stands anywhere else.

If anyone has any experience with this speaker setup, what are the brackets (stands) like?
and if they are completely unavailable now, what might be a good substitute (DIY or otherwise) ?

Update: I contacted KEF - They said that brochure is the only document they have on the C200SW's (which i know isnt true. I found a separate positioning manual online very easily, unfortunately no reference of the brackets or stands in that document either), so i wrote back and asked them to double check documents for the C15 and C25 to see if they can find any mention of the stands there.

My guess is im going to have to get brackets custom cut, however I cant find what dimensions i would need anywhere. I'm willing to draw my own up and attempt to get someone to recreate them but i'm afraid thats more work than necessary, as there may be a product out there that will do the same job as the original KB200.

It's like they dont exist.
they would be pretty easy to copy though.

Do you think theres something holding the C15/C25 to the metal bracket? Looks like a pretty thin bar to rest a speaker on...

to the bracket to me. probably wood.

The “stands” are bent metal. Easy to make if you have some flat stock and a way to bend it

Ok so quick update, mostly just in case anyone else ends up needing info on these brackets.

I've reached out to tons of different audio specialists asking about these and no one (other than the fine folks in this thread), including KEF, have any information for me. Also, after months of searching, I still cannot find record of a single pair of these being sold.

I initially was going to just buy some stools to set my C15's on so they arent in direct contact with the subwoofers, however, while searching, I stumbled across some side tables i think will work even better.

From the dimensions, im thinking the subs will fit in the bottom part and the c15 will rest on top - essentially turning into an extra large version of the aforementioned brackets from KEF. Just will need to isolate the subs from the metal portion. Going to post pictures of the final result once theyre in and set up.

Ok, so -

i will post pictures at a later time but I could not wait to update yall on my results since setting these side tables up -

Bass response is DRASTICALLY improved; i cannot describe how much better it sounds, since the C15's arent in direct contact with the C200SW's anymore -- so much so, these side tables have saved me from changing my receiver. Obviously these speakers were made to come with the KB200 stands, but holy crap, these tables work SO WELL.

I cut up a 4x4 and bought some rubber isolation feet for the subs, to keep them separate from the metal frame. I was worried about isolating them, as it says in one of the documents that these are meant to go in the corners, directly on the floor, where the bass response is boosted into your walls, etc. But after hearing these setup with the side tables, isolated and all, there is almost nothing i want changed in the sound. SO MUCH BETTER THAN ON THE FLOOR AND IN THE CORNER. The bass resonates throughout the walls better this way too, imo.

Also ended up moving the speakers much close together -- 2.5m away from each other now (4.5m before), which is perfect because as long as you have the speakers separated from each other with the KB200 stands or these tables, you should not keep them more than 3m apart in a small/medium sized room.

Anyway, as I said before, the main reason for updating this thread is just in case anyone else needs info on the KB200 brackets that basically never existed according to KEF and the rest of the internet. So anyone looking for more info about these speakers, please dont hesitate to message me!

I’m amazed! I was just heading down this very same path today when I found your post. I bought both the Kef C25 and C200SW in high school (~1992?). I’ve loved them ever since. I’ve considered buying something new countless times but just couldn’t justify it as they sound great.

For going on 30 years I haven’t quite known a good way arrange a speaker stand in a reasonable way to the subs. I’d completely forgotten about the KEF stand and had considered many ways of making my own. However, by finding your post you’ve solved all of those problems!

Would you mind posting more photos? In particular, I’m interested to know how you elevated the subs off the ground. Also did you add any weight to the shelf as many folks do for speaker stands?

Thats awesome! i only went into this much detail because of how frustrated I became trying to find information on the original stands (I still cant get over its as if they never existed according to KEF or really anywhere online).

To isolate the sub from the metal base of the stand, I bought some rubber isolation feet (although i dont think the feet are 100% required, i figured theyd help just in case the wood underneath wasnt level) and then also set some left over scrap 4x4's - from a wood project my girlfriend took on - to set underneath the sub. The wood raises the sub up just enough so that the speaker doesnt come in contact with the metal frame.

You can find the 4x4 at any hardware store or home depot, etc.

I didnt add any weight to the stand but your speakers are the larger version of mine, so you may want to. Although, if you keep the speakers not right on the edge of the stand you should be fine as i believe each stand is supposed to hold up to 50lbs or so.

I used some velcro to put my C25s on the metal trays and it works fine. The sound is absolutely fantastic at a not very high price. What are your thoughts on how much power this set up draws from the amp? I have a Pioneer SA-7800ii with 65 wpc and get a bit nervous that it's not really designed for 4 ohm speakers. Do either of you have any overheating issues?

I don’t have any experience with that amp as Ive only ever used mine with a NAD that had a switch on the back to flip from 4ohm to 8ohm. If I ever switched it to 8ohm there would absolutely be issues.

I now use a schiit vidar power amp and even though I’m using different speakers, the vidar is more than capable of driving 4 ohms and there’s no switch or anything. (Although I’m pretty sure it’s considered an “intelligent amplifier” and has some sort of computer that reads how much power your speakers ask for).

To answer your question, if it’s over heating you’ll want to buy something more capable

Think you're right - I like the deep bass (being a fan of reggae) and that means the 4 ohm end of the spectrum so may be time to upgrade the amp.
Hats off to you for improvising a stand for the bookshelf speakers.
By the way, I understand that this set up was Kef's mid-price version of the high-end Rogers ab1 system which complemented their L3/5A speakers.

Very late to the game here, but I have the KB200 brackets. The best I could find in North America was a single bracket a shop had in a dusty corner. They never did find it. I lucked out and found a brand new in box set in the Netherlands. Managed to get them for $40 and they're just perfect. If you need dimensions, I'm a CAD tech and can replicate these easily in AutoCAD or SolidWorks, where they could be printed in ABS (or ASA ) or replicated in steel if that's what your after.

Actualización: Me puse en contacto con KEF - Dijeron que el folleto es el único documento que tienen sobre los C200SW (lo cual sé que no es cierto. Encontré un manual de posicionamiento separado en línea muy fácilmente, desafortunadamente tampoco hay referencia de los soportes o soportes en ese documento), así que les respondí y les pedí que verificaran dos veces los documentos para el C15 y el C25 para ver si podían encontrar alguna mención de los soportes allí.

Supongo que voy a tener que conseguir soportes cortados a medida, sin embargo, no puedo encontrar qué dimensiones necesitaría en ningún lugar.
