Starbucks new regular coffee -- pretty good

Snade

humble AK member
As some of you know, I'm a card carrying Dunkin Donuts coffee guy.

This morning I ordered a tall regular coffee at Starbucks ($1.77).

They have a new regular brew launched last week.

Gone is the bitter after taste of the old brew, but it is still has a full-bodied coffee taste. :thmbsp:

I liked it a lot.

I haven't tried it yet, don't know if they will add the blend to the Starbucks machines we have at work. My daughter went in to a Starbucks last week when they were serving the new drinks free for a promotion. She said that they had her fill out a survey and gave a coffee card for one free drink every Wednesday until the end of June. :thmbsp:

Thanks Mark!!

I have been disappointed by the lack of DD up here, and maybe you found my solution!

I liked Starbucks when they started but then they went upscale. All I want is a good cup of coffee that does'nt take 5 minutes to pronounce.I was raised in upstate NY,still miss Dunkin' Donuts and Dan Dee Donuts.

Just ask for a tall regular coffee at Starbucks.

The price of Dunkin Donut coffee has gone up a lot last year, I think the price comparison to Starbucks is pretty close these days comparing just a regular coffee. Starbucks may be slightly higher on a per ounce comparison, but close.

At Starbucks they give you a funny look when you tell them you don't need room for extras. All I want in my coffee is coffee.

Mark, what were the beans/blend (drip du'jour) of the Starbucks you liked?

Instead of changing their regular coffee frequently, they now have one blend as their regular coffee at all stores around the country. It is called Pikes Place blend, but you just need to ask for regular coffee - their everyday regular coffee.

From the Starbucks press release:

In a bid to reinvigorate lackluster U.S. traffic, Starbucks (SBUX) on Tuesday will introduce an everyday brew called Pike Place Roast .

Andrew Linnemann, Starbucks master coffee blender, said in a conference call with reporters on Monday that Pike Place and Pike Place decaffeinated will be offered daily, along with a third bold-style coffee from a rotating list.

Starbucks had previously served a different coffee each week, which Linnemann said was confusing to some customers. With Pike Place, Starbucks will deliver drip coffee that is the same, regardless of the day or location, he said.

I'll try it out. I'm a 100% Colombian-or-Guatemalan kinda guy, which this sounds like it emulates, so I'll give it a shot (or, draft).

Any reply on those Sevens?

At $1.77, that's only a $1.67 mark up, as opposed to the $3.67 mark up on their other drinks.

dew.

Had a get-together in the conference room at work today and for refreshments they served the Pike Place blend from Starbucks. I rarely drink my coffee straight, but this new blend was super smooth. I couldn't get enough of it...:thmbsp:

I have been drinking a lot of high-end blends for a few years now, but last week I went to visit my mother and she gave me a cup of coffee that really was delicious! I asked her what it was and was surprised when she said "Maxwell House"! I bought a large can and have been really enjoying coffee lately!!
