Starting to mod KLF-20 cabinet & crossover

A great thread for Klf-20 owners..have had mine for 16 years. Have got crites titanium tweeter installed, and crossover caps. Internal Bracing done as per moray James' recommendations. All these have raised the quality of sound. Now looking to order the titanium mid drivers. I have always used decware's 2-watt set amp with the klfs. I find as I get older, I like listening at lower volumes but still want a big soundstage so hoping the titanium minds will aid the cause.

Well, pulled the trigger and ordered the titanium diaphragms for the mid- horns of the Klf.20s. Simply Speakers are superb with delivery to New Zealand prompt. No issues fitting them today except having to grind down the, positive terminals to fit the stock female connectors. Couple of minutes to do that. It's very quietly playing in the background now but I can hear the bass is definitely crisper with nice tone. Time to enjoy the music. Have got the iPod shuffling the tracks through decware's tube output CD player. Tnks to all the Klipsch gurus here who got me going down the modding route, with the 20s.

an ipod is not going to give you a lot of information due to the extreme compression (data loss) of the format. If you want a big sound then get yourself a source with hi rez file capability.

Hi MJ
I stuck my cd library onto my iPod when I had to work overseas a few years ago and copied with apples lossless decoding. For serious listening I go back to CDs now that I am back home. Cheers

DITTO on Moray advice. I noticed this years ago when I burned the same CD FLACK vs MP3.The FLACK had much more bass and dynamics. Even I-Tunes high rez format sounds good vs MP3 or compressed files. PM3 files sound just fine on my I-Pod with my Klipsch S4 II ear buds.

Tnks for the heads up. I shall investigate as I am technically challenged....
