I am looking for a good, hopefully reasonable 2500VA or 3000VA Audiophile Step-Down Transformer for my Mcintosh system. In UK from US.

Or should i get my units converted? I'm lost! I don't want to ruin my gear, but I want to start enjoying them again too. Any help appreciated.

a step down of that size will not be cheap.
a step down for the C28 pre should be fine. For the power amp, you may want to see if you can find a power trans for the amp.

here is an example

IMO, a conversion would always be preferable. By conversion the type I mean is by changing jumpers or whatever inside the units. Whether it's possible with these ones I don't know.

Some Mcintosh units were convertible from 220/110, and vice versa, using different transformer taps. I'm not sure if the 2205 is capable, but it wouldn't hurt to ask a tech, or put in a call, to Mcintosh.
