Stereo lamp type for a Marantz 2226b?

Hello, and thanks for the input I dont want to do that with the Vellum because meter housing will have to be replaced because they are brittle and really don't want to open a can of worms for a dim light I think I can live with it thanks guys

i'm glad this thread got started. i recently picked up a 2226B and almost all of the bulbs are blown out. So that got me thinking, i know that i would not attempt this myself and it seems some people have had luck with LED's... so why not just do that? are there any big negatives to using LED's that i'm not aware of?

Actually replacing the lamps in the 2226b is not too hard. No Vellum behind the dial plate. Just go in from the front, very carefully removing the dial plate. As far as the meters, you don't have to take the whole housing off, just the small piece holding the lamps behind the housing. If you are careful, only one clip might break but it can still fit back in just fine. I'm far from a pro. If I can do it, anyone can.

My 2226b, is one of my favorite units. Always sounds better with all the lamps working.

LoL ..not laughing at anyone just myself and yes i lost one clip on each meter when doing mine but hey its my 2226B anyway so you think the 300's would be better on the meters? i have 250's in all of her now but like i said the am/fm is kinda dim if thats the Answer i'll put 300's in and yes i do remember they had the blue coating on them too...............LOVE MY 2226B GREAT RECEIVER HEY ITS A MARANTZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
