So I am at the stage where I feel my system is complete however I look around the room and it is pretty bare. Just stereo equipment, computer and some lights I put up & ofcourse my music media collection.
I realized I need to build up my listening space to make me feel more engaged with the music. I have been looking at a lot of other member systems spaces to see what they have done. What I find in common is records or record albums framed and on the wall. Music posters, lights, etc.
One of the more common things I have seen is the Maxell poster of the Blown away guy. I have it on order and when it arrives it will be framed. I have some colored lights up and some movie posters.
I was wondering what you guys have added to your listening room to make your experience more wonderful, such as lava lamps, hidden lighting, hockey nostalgia, awards, rare framed record albums. The list can go on but I know every room is unique to us. It would be cool to see those pics or you can just mention what is special to you other then your stereo setup

Add some room treatments. You won't be disappointed. Trust me on this.

I also have a collection of Beanie Babies and Babylon Five action figures on the bases of my speakers. Those that have older Magneplanars or Acoustats know what I'm talking about.
 
A Nagy bronze, a couple of oils of minor repute & some meaningful photographs. Oh - & a grandfather clock from the Skull & Bones club. Seriously.
 
Unfortunately my current brewed favorite (Pilsner Urquel) is only available in bottles and cans.
 
You have to have two or three junk components laying around half taken apart that you will eventually get to.


Honestly just do what you think you would like. My room has racing photos (I've taken) and some wall hanging LPs along with some prints from a local artist and a painting my girlfriend made for me.

In the small city apartment where we currently live, my listening room is our shared living room that is used for a number of activities besides just music, and that largely dictates the decor.

However, I've often thought that if I had a dedicated listening room, I'd like to put some interesting-looking musical instruments in it for decoration, perhaps including some "ethnic" or obsolete kinds. The only problem with this, of course, that musical instruments, by their very nature, tend to be resonant, and would therefore perhaps have unwanted effects on the music being listened to in the room.

The alternative (which I did use in our previous place, which had a much larger living/listening room), is to make acoustic room treatments that do double-duty as decor. For example, I took some antique Chinese pierce-carved wooden panels, and mounted them atop thick sound-absorbent blocks covered with cloth. The backings looked as if they were meant to display the carvings, but really they were acoustic treatment. The carvings themselves acted partially as deflectors with all their irregular-ly shaped harder surfaces, while also allowing some waves to penetrate through the openings to the absorbers behind. Similarly, various things ranging from plants to columns to big stuffed animals can do double-duty as both decoration and acoustic treatment. All it takes is a little thought, creativity and experimentation.

Oh, I also have a few sets of "musicians" playing instruments. These include a set of black jazz musicians about 16" tall made from hand-painted plaster sculptures, a set of carved wooden frog musicians (from Indonesia), and a set of REAL stuffed bullfrogs playing instruments (from Brazil). I think these things are highly appropriate for a listening room. For reasons of size (the black jazz group are on the big side) and WAF (the stuffed frogs creep my wife out), only the "cute" wooden froggie musicians are currently on display. But if I had a larger/dedicated listening room, the other sets might come back out.

Of course, album covers and posters are always good. I especially like the French Pathe poster with the gramophone on it.
 
Framed tour posters are a big fave...also, posters of music-related movies. You can't use reproductions, though. No street cred in that!
 
Framed movie posters from music-related movies are a nice touch! There are plenty of them out there if you learn how to search. Of course, the bigger the artist, the bigger the price. An original Japanese poster for Hard Days Night (the original UK and US release posters are more valuable, but the Japanese poster is a masterwerk of graphic art) is gonna cost ya, but there are affordable options out there. A reproduction poster is NOT COOL! How do I delete the above post?

I have a couple of framed Denon posters in my bedroom. They look kinda cool with my Denon system in there. Decor in my main room is a bit in flux, but I have two small handbills from shows I've recently attended. They would look nice in a frame. In my TV room I have all of my Judas Priest concert ticket stubs going back to 1981 in a frame; looks awesome if I don't say so myself!

Do those fish have a preference in tunes? Do they eat more while listening to Nantucket Sleighride or Yellow Submarine?

I was very worried at first that the deep bass would stress them but they dont react to it in any way that I can see.I'm only 7 feet away at most so its generally not very loud anyways.

I cant say what their favorite song might be but I am real partial to the theme from Voyage to the bottom of the Sea. :)
 
Coupla framed GD pictures on the walls, Thiel CS2s (one needs xover work or a new mid driver, not sure which yet), my office desk, and a 42" Samsung LED for those music DVDs and Blu-Rays.

Oh, and the system :lmao:
