Storing Headshells

I like the shure one but would be worried about smashing the carts together. I made the tackle box one for when I was moving cross country, I really wanted something that would keep the headshells locked down. plus with the different sizes of headshells it was the most versatile. It worked perfectly, everything made the 3000 mile move in one piece.

I really like the glass dome cheese server as Nate (Redboy) suggested. My buddy made one and it looks cool as hell......just found some pics of one my buddy Britt made

I have the Shure cartridge case and also the older Audio Technica silo style cartridge cases plus some Technics cartridge cases. None of them are cheap but my cartridges arn't cheap either.

Well, I'll be damned... I've always wondered what the hell those were but I guess I didn't wonder hard enough. :scratch2: Depending on the mount, it can expose the stylus to potential hazard. My SL-D1 faces away and toward the cover. MyKD-5077 has one facing forward at 45 degrees. That one could get bumped pretty easily.

Glad I'm not the only one who didn't know this.

I have a KD5070 and never had a problem bumping the headshell or cart after years of storing it there. I do keep the stylus guard down just in case. The angled mount is kind of cool.

In a previous thread on this subject some time ago, someone had the great idea of using empty CD/DVD plastic containers. The ones that held a spindle of 50 or 100 discs. Just drill some holes in a disc of wood or plastic and glue it to the inside of the bottom.

Well, that didn't happen to me personally, just what I read online. But I eyeballed closing my case at home with the aformention headshells installed and sure enough they will touch.

There's a new design out that has the black holders in different positions. Have no experience with that one...

This is my first attempt at making a head shell organizer . Used a simple piece of pine scrap, drilling the hole and making the slot for the small piece that sticks out was not that difficult . Anyone making these can share their experience. I was thinking the wood may wear a bit making it not hold the head shells in place . Maybe making the hole bigger and using a silicone or plastic tubing insert .
