stromberg carlson console question

picked up a small very basic model rp-721wo
stromberg carlson tube console
looks like it's a SE type with 7408/6v6 outputs
shes sounds fantastic with even the crappy 6x9 speakers
but i noticed that the amp has no RCA jacks
can RCA jacks, be installed in this amp to use as a standalone like the maggies?
this is my very first stromberg console:yes:

Nifty little console there, fisherlover. No individual speaker enclosures - just one big box - makes for easy access, anyway. The Fisher Electra III I've been working on has 3 compartments accessed from the back, one under the turntable and another tiny enclosure just for one tweeter between the turntable and the speaker panel. I had to desolder the woofers and tweeters just to get the speaker panels off. The woofers fire down through the bottom of the console but being a Fisher it sounds pretty nice as I'm sure you know.

I hardly see any Stromberg-Carlson consoles down this way. Very slick styling - early 60s? Having a console fetish, I'm curious what the S-C nameplate looks like - could you post a picture?

I have a Stromberg-Carlson console amp too. Mine is a P-P 6V6 but is very much like yours. Mine had a 3 pin plug on the chassis that was for the inputs. One pin for left hot, one for right hot and a common ground. I drilled holes and mounted RCA jacks and soldered them to the wires that went to the 3 pin. The 3 pin wires are easily identified by tracing the one pin that goes to the chassis ground and the other 2 will go to each of the 7199 input tubes. I removed the original socket and mounted the power switch in the hole that was left. Hope this helps. Nice find!! Here are some pics of what I did to mine:

I have an S/C amp, too, that I have the caps and parts for that I have to still make into a stand alone amp sometime here soon. It's a little ASR-110 that Tom Bavis helped me with the information on. I bet it will be a great little amp once done. I got the complete console from an estate sale and the gentleman who owned it actually worked for S/C way back when. Pretty cool history on it. It looks pretty similar to the one you have there with a different cabinet design.

ther's no connector at all
the TT signal wires plugged into the tune/pre

fill me in on doing the mods
mine was just standing on a curb with snow all over it
luckly the amp didn't get wet:D

The tuner preamp is plugged into the power amp via a 3 pin connector toward the front of the amp on the top side of the chassis. Look at the pic I posted of mine from the front. The power switch I mounted is in the hole that this connector is in.
 
I wish I could figure out the magic in S/C amplifiers. I don't know if it's the circuits, tube selections, or what, but I've never heard one I didn't love. I've got an EL84 PP out of a console to do when I get some time. Enjoy yours, Jay

This is great info - I just found an old SC console today at Goodwill and I believe it has the asr-120 amp in it. I just pulled it and it will be a fun project to convert it fo non-console use - my first foray into tube amp work, so wish me luck!
 
For some reason mine isn't powering up. I will have to do some checking, but I can't even find my meter right now, lol... What would the most obvious things to check be?
 
Probably because it was in a console where it was connected to an on/off switch that wasn't located on the amp.

If you look at the schematic, you will be able to tell where to jumper to give it power.

Looks like jumper pin 6 & 9 on the connector, but last time I was wrong about where to jumper, so get a second opinion!
