I wish I could figure out the magic in S/C amplifiers. I don't know if it's the circuits, tube selections, or what, but I've never heard one I didn't love. I've got an EL84 PP out of a console to do when I get some time. Enjoy yours, Jay

No earth shaking circuitry--just good, solid design. I'm going to guess it's the output iron that has the magic. :thmbsp:

Nice Stromberg.I see it has a Glaser Steers record changer.
Those are kind of neat because the platter stops spinning before the record drops.

Can you guys point me to the correct way to test a power transformer? So far this thing is a dead brick... I have juice into the transformer, but I do not believe I am getting the correct voltages out... (<---- total newb!)

These were the bottom of Stromberg's line, so they're not in much demand. (even thought they were better then the TOP of some other makers...) the Stromberg Carlson amp is a ASR-120 with 4ea 7408 output Tubes and 2 ea 7199 spilter pre tubes. I have a total of 4 of those amps in house currently. ill send ya a copy of the schematic with this post. I put in a on-off switch. two RCA inputs on the top holes and out puts on the back. also a fuse. i used Nevr-Dull to polish the tops and carefully the metal on the output transformers cleaned up but a lot of work. I have a Stromberg Calson ASE 434 Pre amp so no volume control on tube amp and run Altec Lansing very large speakers set. 15' woofer. mid horn, high freq horn.. im so very pleased in what i get in beautiful sound, imaging a hello of a lot of bass.
what you have ASR-120 is a great amp you will love it. with years of great music out of it. here is the schematic and id check out the web site MadeinRochester.html you will find the amp in the catalogs but here is the schametics
