I have an Eico ST97; have replaced all the electrolytics and out of spec resistors. Sounds good, has decent selectivity and sensitivity, with decent stereo separation on good stations. I thought that I would touch up the IF alignment and found the secondary slug of the ratio detector transformer won’t move. No sign of damage and I didn’t force anything. Has anyone been able to free up one with heat? Read on the AR forum to heat the slug using a fine tip on a soldering iron and resting it in the adjustment slot, rather than a heat gun that heats the coils and form first.

don't know anything about these but anything I've ever run into that had something to lock the core used some sort of paint. Japanese stuff was good for this. Should be pretty visible with a light, it usually looks like someone hit it with nail polish.
on the other hand if its locked in position, fair guess it hasn't moved and shouldn't be out of whack enough to matter. I might be tempted to just align around it and call it good enough.

Don't touch it. Doing so may make things worse.
