The tuning slug for the 19 kHz "pilot" transformer on the multiplex daughter board of my Sherwood 3000 tuner appears to be stuck and impossible to adjust. The part number on this thing is 61-384. Any suggestioins?

An Old Geezer
A couple of suggestions. First, many times in the good old days, when a tech aligned a tuner he dropped a bit of wax into it to seize it up to stop it from shifting. Only problem was when it needed an alignment the slug could not move. We used to take a hair dryer and heat up the can untilthe wax softened and the removed the slug and cleaned the can out. Of course we then had to do a compete alignment and not a simple touchup. Also, the Sherwood cans can be opened without too much difficulty. Once open, the slug in fairly easy to get to and should be able to be freed up if somethig other than wax has been inserted. Worse are the old techs who would strip the threads and then use glue to lock the slug after aligning. If the case sometimes heat and ginger torguing will break the seal and other times it takes warm water if a water soluable glue was used which was not uncommon back in the days of us cavemen.
