Subwoofer to pair with Forte I

I just put my Forte I’s with Crites tweeter and crossover mods. They a so good at detail

What I miss is the awesome bass from my AR 9’s. So I’m thinking of adding a subwoofer. I would prefer a wireless sub if there are any that are audio quality as I live in Fl home with no way to hide wires.

Any suggestions?

Fl house here too.. No attic access in yours? I don’t know how many gallons of sweat I’ve lost fishing various antenna, network and speaker cables through ours in into various walls…
 
SVS has very good subs at price levels for most every situation or budget... can find very good deals on used subs too. They have wireless set ups too and smart phone apps to control all the settings. I have 2 of their 2nd tier entry level subs, the SB2000 and they are very good for music and do well with home theater as well in a medium sized room of 20x14... sealed subs wont have the max decibel or impact of a ported sub but they are much smaller sized and do great for music.

Also try playing with position of the fortes, they have a rear passive that should be about 12" off the rear wall and in or as close to corners of the room as possible, speakers bass will almopst always be better when in or near corners of the room which is where PWK recommends the to be placed.

One sub brand that gets overlooked is HSU. They make very good subs that are reasonably priced for their quality. I have been using their STF-2 sub (no longer sold) daily for well over a decade without a single problem and it sounds as good as the day I first used it. Any sub can be used with an independent wireless adapter.

Forte have good bass, are you missing the BOOOM bass? How many watts is your amp?
Before you get a sub, spend some time moving the speakers around the room. You might be surprised at how much bass they have.
Forte like to be 6-12in from the back wall, with some toe in. Usually if you pull them out over 20in, the bass goes way down.

Mark your floor with some tape where they are now, play a song you like with bass, move them both around, listen, move, listen. Do that several times leave them where they sound best. It's weird, but 1in can make a big difference.

You may also be sitting in the "null" point, play same song, move around the room, where is the bass big, or little. Sitting in the null, you will never get any real bass, but if you go right outside of it, there will be a lot of bass Usually if you stand in any corner of the room, you will feel/hear the bass. This is why bass traps work.
 
My F1s are stuffed in the corners on the short of an 11X14 room pointed directly at me in my listening spot 10ish feet away. Very happy with the bass I'm hearing on songs that have bass to hear. I don't boost bass, I have no tone controls. Just a loudness switch for low volume listening that I added to a Aikido tube line stage feeding a couple different tube power amps.

It took a while to get things right for me. Mostly it was my listening position. The speakers went right in the corners as is so often recommended. I did play with toe-in a little. In the end, pointing right at me was where I liked them best.

Yes have attic space. It is a possibility.
 
Biggest problem I have is lack of corners in my assigned listening space.

Even with AR 9’s I need to turn bass up a bit.

I do have the F1’s away from wall.

Amp is Odyssey Stratus. Preamp is Parasound 2100. Streaming lossless into Music Hall DAC with tube buffer. LP’s do sound better

they still benefit from a subwoofer; using a sub doesn't necessarily mean "boom" bass, especially if it's properly tuned.
 
I use a single svs sb12 all the time (2 channel and tv) with my forte ii. Sealed box. Tight and punchy. Sb2000 would be the similar current model.

I add a velodyne uld15 for movies when i want to shake the room.
 
I enjoyed my svs pb2000 for quite a while. Decent output for the price. Anything from Hsu or svs would treat your right. If you are thinking Klipsch you'd need to stick to the current RP line to match the same performance

I have dual SB2000s i run with my chorus 2... they are a sealed sub & definitely no "BOOM" type bass. Any good sub tuned & placed right wont be boomy... just accurate tight bass. Lots of speakers lacking low bass like heresy or lascala etc will benefit from a good sub... or 2.
 
Amps come into play too. My Fisher 400's deliver all the bass you'd ever want driving my Forte1. The Fisher X-202, not so much.

Amps dont/wont make speakers have any more bass than their freq response can produce... fortes have very good bass down to ~32hz but theres is bass lower than that in lots of modern music and especially movies if they are in a home theater application.

A good sub set up right will always add missing low bass below ~40-50hz & boost or complement bass from 99% of speakers.
