Suitable replacements for output transistors 2SC783 and 2SA483

Hello all, I have a driver board on my AU-9500 that is in need of a replacement pair of output transistors (2SC783 and 2SA483). Already took a chance on a pair off of eBay, shiny, new and DEAD. So now I am looking for suggestions from the experts on any equivalent replacements that may be had from Digikey or Mouser, etc.

Thanks avionic, so am I to assume that there really are no options in the original TO-66 configuration? Not exactly sure how to adapt them to work on the board?

The TO-66 package is long obsolete, the only sensible option is to use transistors with a package, i.e. TO-220, that was designed to directly replace TO-66 devices in the mechanical sense.

It's been done many times including here on AK, if you do a search for AU-9500 restorations you might be able to find the details, but it is quite simple to do. TO-220 replacements with adequate electrical characteristics have been given by avionic above.

The Main thing to keep in min is that the tab on the TO-220 is the collector, as is the case on the to-66. And the electrical connection is the screws. Some times only one of the original screws are connected. And in both, usually need mica or equivalent insulation. My 2 cents.
