Man, I should be glad I don't have any money, because that setup is really cool, and I bet it sounds good to boot. Can't imagine there being many store racks out in the wild like that anymore either...

I like the equipment, but I don't really care for tall racks. I would rather mount the equipment in two side by side short racks. The display rack alone is probably pretty valuable to a Pioneer collector.

I'll admit that it's a nice pile of silver BUT I'm very skeptical that the rack is actually a Pioneer item. It looks a LOT like an old mainframe rack. I bought 2 very similar ones from the company i was working for a few years back for 5 cents per pound as scrap metal. They stick out from the wall way too far to be convenient which is why I switched to an upside down "T" style communications rack instead.

If you look at the photos taken of the inside of the back, you can see that the rack is about twice as deep as the components.

Any Pioneer dealers know for sure? If only the Doc were still around...

I think I'd put an RT-909 and an RT-707 in. One, it would show off more products for display. Two, it would provide more flexibility.

Very interesting - I think the fact that the rack is portrayed as Pioneer is where the majority of the interest in this auction comes from. If it does indeed turn out to be some run of the mill equipment rack, the seller won't be too happy!

I've seen a lot of racks (!) and that looks like just a standard deep equipment rack to me. It's way too deep for the equipment that's in it, really. The SS filler panels at the bottom are a slightly different color than the faceplates of the equipment. The top Pioneer nameplate is definitely cool- whether it's genuine Pioneer or not.
