Any Pioneer dealers know for sure? If only the Doc were still around...

Doc looked at it. To the best of his knowledge, Pioneer never had a display rack like that. It looks too much like a server rack. He is also suspect of the "pioneer" banner at the top.

PS Did you notice the photos are taken in his workshop/garage? Odd place to keep that kind of setup. Just curious.......:scratch2:

Not if you're just flipping it. If I bought that at estate sale or auction and planned to turn around and sell it quickly, it would never leave my garage.

I asked the seller if there were any markings on the rack at all that indicated that it was manufactured by Pioneer. He said there wasn't, and the reason he gave was that Pioneer produced so few of them that they didn't take the time to create a model number or put a logo on it. :scratch2:

Bull, I think, as most companies will stamp a number on anything. especially if it's a low-run object...just my opinion of course.

It appears that the high bidder didn't pay and it is back on eBay with a $3,000 BIN price.

Also, it doesn't have the correct screws or washers that attach the pieces to the rack. Why would Pioneer not use the correct ones if it was in fact one of their racks? I don't think it's a Pioneer rack either and I suspect that the top plate with the Pioneer logo and the bottom plate was custom made.

Or did the buyer see this thread before he paid?:scratch2:...that's probably unlikely, but you never know.

By the way, I would think there is nothing wrong with putting logos on your own furniture, but selling it like that, as an actual item?, that's not good. The seller may not have known either, again, hard telling.

Very interesting either way.
