Supergirl season 2, How does such a colossal, enormous, stupendously crappy show survive.

Season 2 of Supergirl plopped down on Netflix. I struggled and mostly fast forwarded through season one. Season 1 was indescribably lame. I though maybe season 2 would be an improvement..........It is even worse.
Supergirl is the worst of these formulaic shows pinched out by Berlanti Productions who also produces The Flash, Arrow, and other shows that are the reason why I find The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross more entertaining, or at least hipnotic. This season Supergirls cousin appears and even The Man of Steel come across like a Nerf Ball. That is the problem with Supergirl the script must have been written by Caspar Milquetoast. Season 2 episode 1 is now playing I think I am going to go and watch something better, "Cooking With Carl The Cannibal" is on and there is a new episode that features Asian stir fry. ;)

On Netflix don't say I didn't warn you........:boring:

Hey I am a TV sadomasochist. :D Truth be told I was on one of my radios doing DX with Supergirl playing on the TV every time I looked up I cringed it was so bad. After Deathpool what's left....:dunno:

I did the magical thing - I was watching it via my DVR and after episode 5 or so in Season 2,
I realized I dreaded the show, so I killed the season pass and stopped watching.
I still have most of the season of Flash in the can (next up, Gorilla Grodd!) and will probably try to watch the rest of Flash this summer. I do like the actor who does him.
Have most of this season of Arrow in the can as well - not sure I will get back to that, I've been dreading Arrow as well - life is too short for badly written TV shows!
Berlasconi Productions have fallen in my opinion ...
 
Early seasons of the Arrow weren't too bad. I think I bailed out near the end of Season 2.

That is the way was for me, Same with Flash season one good, and the end of season one the teaser with the alternate Flash which excited me because his costume was that of the pre WW2 comic book Flash. I just lost interest halfway through the 2nd season. I think the very best Superhero TV show was Smallville (2001 to 2011).

Honestly in the Superman comic book world Supergirl was alway trying find her place in that world.
 
Other than the Dark Knight Trilogy (possibly Wonder Woman, haven't seen it), DC can't get anything right compared to Marvel. Even (half maybe) Marvel's TV shows are great. When the heck is the next season of Daredevil coming out?
 
And in a similar vein but still in the DC universe, while my passion for Arrow, Flash, and Supergirl has waned, I find myself drawn to Gotham. It "reimagines" the entire Gotham world and, who knows, from the season finale, we may yet see a primordial Batman. The old villains in new clothes are forming but my personal favorite is The Penguin but, to be honest, I love watching them all chew the scenery.

I bailed on Gotham a couple episodes into Season 3 -
I just didn't really care about any of the characters ...
 
The whole premises of The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was bogus from the beginning. Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) was killed by Loki in The Avengers (2012) so an alien technology thing was concocted to bring his dead body back to life. As long as this was not pointed out overtly things went well for the series but then Coulson started to have PRS (Post Resurrection Syndrome) episodes, The VTOL C-17 was cute. I have no doubt there was an Air Force General who saw it and turned to a Colonel and said, "can we do that?". and a call went to Boeing to find out.

You do know Grant Gustin is a Virginia boy don't you? He grew up in Norfolk.

As to the DC Universe on CW & Fox, I do watch all of it. But, it's starting to feel like a chore. I'm not sure what I'll bail on? They're all getting rutted into the same formula. The next super-villain, the next time-loop, or the next time-jump. It got old in the Star Trek movies and shows. So, it's already wearing thin for me in DC too.

I was a big Agent Carter fan too. I wish it had been renewed for Season 3.

Now, Peggy Carter is dead in the MCU and on TV. So, I guess she's gone for good?

Exactly! That's what I was hoping to see, and they blew it! Instead we get silly stuff, that seemed out of character, and no SHIELD development. Oh well... No more Agent Carter, no Hellboy 3, and no Divergent 4 (for my wife). Studio's suck! They have sure-fire properties, and don't know how to handle them!
 
A good example of great potential squandered was the character "Red Sonja". Red Sonja was Robert E. Howard's Conan The Barbarian's female counter part. In the comic books she was just a tough and just as deadly as Conan. The funny thing is had you read Robert E. Howard's Conan books from the 1930's you realize just how good the Conan movie was. Shortly after Conan The Barbarian with Arnold Schwarzenegger news came out of a Red Sonja movie (1985) I was thinking of the Comic book character. Boy was I disappointed. Red Sonja was played by Brigitte Nielsen talk about poor casting. There where a number of female body builders at the time that would have looked the part. Ms Nielsen had to fight for every scene with Arnold Schwarzenegger, awful movie.

A big Robert E. Howard and Frank Frazetta fan here. Two of my favorites. So, preaching to the choir. But, it's nice to vent too. Though, I have to admit, I loved Arnold in the Red Sonja movie. He was very good in that role, even if it wasn't Conan, but some unknown character named Kalidor!
