I know less than I think
Found a pair of Paradigm Atom v.3 at the local thrift for $16 today. Decent shape. Listened to them all afternoon in a near field application while I worked.

A not bad, useful set of bookshelves, though the bass can get bloaty while the highs can be a bit sharpish. Pretty much in line with the other Paradigm Monitor Series speakers from the era.

These may migrate to my office to replace the "overkill" Mission M72.

Someone finding something for a ridiculously low price and misspelling score for scroe is hilarious...but you can't....

The current title actually tickles my funny bone as much as the term "scroe" does.

I have a pair of v3s that split garage duty with a pair of Pioneer SPBS22s. Not sure which I prefer.

The Paradigms are more airy and detailed while the Pioneers are fuller sounding in the mids and have a more solid bottom end.

Both are great choices in the price range.
 
I had the atom v4 and still have the Pioneer SPB22's. The weak spot of the Pioneers is their tweeter, and the strong point of the Atom was the tweeter, at least the early versions. The Pioneer gets down into the mid 50's for frequency response while the old Atoms barely made it below 80. The Pioneers look a lot nicer with the curved cabinet, and it's nice to be able to take the grills off. Comparing new prices, the Pioneers win the day, but it's different strokes for different folks.

There is a thread around here somewhere on how to upgrade the B22's with a drop in tweeter and crossover mod, but I'm happy with them as they are.
 
Sharp highs are an indication of highly sensitive revealing speakers, for those speakers you would have to have a very quiet amp.

no - that is the size of the cabinet and the midbass physical parameters. I have plenty of small speakers w/o midbass bloat that are sensitive (just look at Rogers, Triangle S-F, and others). It is the combination of the driver design, physical parameters, and cabinet size.

Sensitivity is 89db.....

What kind of receiver or amp are you using to push a signal to those speakers ???

As for the harmonics...can't you just do some kind of Star Trek Next Gen thing like invert the neutrino phasing matrix in the antimatter frequency arrays? That should take care of it.
