Surprising discovery of small speakers at the local thrift for a reasonable price!

That might work, if you were to amplify the 'ping machine' first.....

You have provided a classic definition of absurdist humor.

Yet another:

Can you tell the difference between Whizzo Butter and a dead crab?

What kind of receiver or amp are you using to push a signal to those speakers ???

First a Rotel RX-600A then a Harman Kardon DPR-1001. The Rotel was bloatier, while the H/K was tinnitusier. Guess the Rotel may come to the office too.

Oddly enough, I've never had a set of metal dome tweeters hang out for any extended period of time at my place, other than those in my JBL E60

Ah, but you don't know all receivers that I own!

Ha ha ha!

Though based on the speaker's cost, I think I have some sort of Pioneer Pro-Logic doohickey around here somewhere.

I bought a pair of Paradigm 3se-mini at local Thrifty shop for $5.99 needing woofer refoam. I have been using them in my bedroom driven by Hitachi SR-903 and quite happy with them. One surprise of these speakers is the bass extension. On the specs, it is stated bass extension at 48Hz. I have quite enjoyed full range of sound by feeding online stream music into the receiver.

A friend of mine used to have a set of 3se and I quite liked them.

Although they fall a bit short in the looks department, they do have a nice, neutral sound to them. I actually preferred the Paradigms with the soft domes, though the metal domes in the studio series are much nicer.

Sounds like a perfect combo for biamping - use the Rotel on the top and the HK on the bottom. :rflmao:

One failure I have noticed on several pair of Paradigm speakers is the glue failing on the woofer's surround.

Check them carefully and regularly.

Other than that and some fresh poly caps in the crossover and you should be good to go.
