surround sound setups

... I can't help but ask tcdriver, do you run a separate HT setup?
For watching video I use a TV and a 2.0 audio setup situated in another room. Video plays a much less important part in my life than audio.

Yeah, I've been extremely happy with it. I don't anticipate upgrading for a while. It doesn't decode the newest lossless audio but my ps3 does and sends it PCM and it sounds fantastic.

Yeah. I have the 82. And you're right, regarding the formats, but when I get serious about Blu Ray and get me an Oppo BDP-93, I'll use its analog outs to the reciever's analog ins and then pass the video signal directly to the display (a 50-inch Panasonic plasma, something like a TCP50-G20... I hate these crazy model numbers).

It's crazy good if you're only pushing 5 speakers and use the left-over channels to bi-amp your front left and right.

I do both actually. I have a dedicated 2ch system and I use it for mainly music but I don't mind to watch movies on it at all.
I also have my pro-audio integrated with the home theater and I watch movies and listen to music on 2ch using that, but I only use the 7.1 option for movies. I refuse to use a 7 speaker decoder for my music because I feel like it ruins the sound stage by moving instruments or singers from one place to another in the room.
