Good Morning,

I am relocating a switch with a new one and need to know the value of the capacitor across it? Is there a general spec?mfd?:scratch2:

Model Lafayette LR-3030A.

Thanks,

Well, you see the the application of the different types, so choose the one that suits your application.

A .01uF (10,000pF) 250VAC will be just fine. Make sure to use an X class safety type such as THIS

A mov across the primary for transient voltage suppression would be more likely. It's more typical to find a cap or an RC snubber used across the power switch.
