SX-1050 Full Rebuild Parts List - Completed Project

I just acquired a mint SX-1050 from the original owner at a great price - the kind of deal on local CL that rarely ever happens anymore. After a DeOxit/FaderLube treatment and bias/idle adjustment, the unit functions perfectly. But having rebuilt a few pioneer receivers, I know how much better they can sound after a re-cap/re-transistor treatment, and so am going to refurbish this one. I'd like to verify the main list and a few other things.

This list originated from MTF's 2/15/2019 guidance in post #3, in this 2019 thread, plus additional recommendations from the same thread. In addition to this main list, and after having reconciled it with the service manual, I have a few questions on other caps/transistors/diodes. You'll see those specific questions after the main list below. Thanks for the help!

I don't understand replacing the working output transistors with new. I would just reseat them. But you say you have done retransistoring and it works for you.

I would up the voltage of all the low voltage 'lytics to at least 25V maybe 35/50 depending on price breaks. I see some 470s and some UKL that are 10V in your list
 
thanks Blue Shadow. I'll take your advice on the low voltage caps. Is there any downside to taking a 10V up to a 50V replacement (other than a few pennies)?

Regarding the outputs - reseating the originals is my plan, but i've had originals come from a working unit that tested bad while doing a reseating, so i figured it would be best to get the replacements vetted - in case i needed to replace the set, in the event one or more of the originals didn't test out.
 
No real downside but I look at 25-35-50 and pick the cheapest if you are covering 25V or less.
 
Some of the later models have a AWX-108 surge killer pcb, which does not have a cap on it.

This transistor (KSD1616) is a carry-over from an old MTF list, and he has told me a 512-KSC2383YTA is a better choice, with a greater SOA.

Thanks merlynski and East Point. I made the change for awm-090 q6 to 512-KSC2383YTA, in the above list.

I will also sort through all the low voltage caps and change them to 25,35, or 50V caps.

For those tracking the list - for all these recommended changes, i will be editing the above list, and also describing the edits/changes, at the top. The hope is to get to a good clean list that can be used for SX-1050's going forward.
 
dustmaker - awr-104 was missing. I just added to the original post. not sure if you'll want to actually replace the bridge rectifier - but the replacement part is listed anyway.
 
My SX-1050 has AWR103 (ps regulators) and AWR-104 (ps rectifiers)

There are three electrolytic caps on the AWR-104, I did not buy or change any of the diodes (tested though) or ceramic caps.

merlynski - do you recall the part numbers for the new heat sinks you added/replaced on awr-104?
No transistors on AWR-104, but on AWR-103, some of them I have had in a parts drawer for years, some came from 'bay and/or some from Amazon. Search for TO-220 heatsink.
I posted this in your BOM thread instead of dustmaker's refurb thread so as stay on track, as it fits better here.

The original heatsink compound was dry as dust, and the transistors were loose on the heatsinks.

There are 73 transistors on the list above and I wanted to check before getting my eyes crossed checking each of them.

There are four transistors on the (phono) Equalizer PCB: Q1,Q3 & Q2, Q4, AWF-020, in Differential amps that have red dots (on mine) that indicate they are select hFE transistors, by Pioneer. Those are the only ones marked in my SX-1050. There are a bunch of places, especially on the power amp PCB, AWH-047 that have bases or emitters in common that it would not hurt to match, but since there is a dc offset adjustment it is not needed to be done.

words right out of my mouth! This is specifically aimed at the SX-1050, other models ARE different!!!

Vbe matching would have more (but still slight) impact, on the power amp especially.

That said, same manufacturer is good, same part number better, same gain code better yet and same batch tops the random pick sweeps.
 
Hello Everyone. I'm providing a cross check list between the above list and what is listed in Word format in the PDF archive AK section for the Pioneer SX-1050. I found that there are many issues with both lists while doing an Excel spreadsheet. In the noted sheet you will see colored cells. Yellow means the item is not even listed in the MS Word document provided by the site archive. False means the Word item does not match the list above. True means we have a match. Amazingly the filter caps weren't even listed in the Word Document. In the MTF column the results are compared to the list above. So I ask, who is right? I'd like to order but based on this data output I'm unclear.
