Sydney's new 'paper bag' building. What do you think?

I like it,
a lot,
sure beats;

Cube top, squared off
Eight corners, 90-degree angles
Flat top, stares straight ahead
Stock parts, blockhead.

or

Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky tacky
Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes all the same,
There's a pink one and a green one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same

A showcase for the hypocrisy of Pete Seeger, a so called progressive looking down his nose at the housing of the common man. Phony bastard.

Perfect description.. couldn't get any more de-evolutionized than a building like these...

No a cheap building to build though.. the more curves you got, the faster the price inflates...

I think it's ugly. I really dislike his work. The Peter B. Lewis Building in Cleveland is an eyesore. It looks like someone crumpled up a wad of tin foil and threw it at the campus. Or an airplane wreck. Inside it looks like something out of "The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari."

It's interesting and refreshing as a first look, afterwards rather an assault on the eyes. The maintainability and livability of those buildings is something an owner will be very much aware of.

Reminds me a bit of "The Dancing Building" in Prague, by Vlado Milunić and Frank Gehry. As interesting as it is to see, there are dozens of more beautiful traditional buildings in Prague.

I think it's a wonderful creation. I wouldn't build it, but I'm glad there's still enough whimsy in the world to do these kind of buildings. It'll get torn down just like every other building one day- it's all transient in any case, just like we are.

It's a talking point and thinking point- something most building are not.

I agree. I can appreciate the desire to do something different, and it is different. However, it is only cool for a short bit before it begins to clash too much with it's surroundings. Visual appeal has to go beyond the individual public building and fit into the whole.
