Sydney's new 'paper bag' building. What do you think?

Much better than yet another anonymous glass tower - adds character and interest to the streetscape, but certainly polarising - but any art that's worth doing is just that!!

By the way this was paid for with a $20m bequest from a Chinese businessman who's son studied at the school, and who is also a fan of Ghery.

I'm still on the fence, but I remember the Sydney Opera House was a polarising design. Now it's our most recognisable building.

Any? I don't think the Pieta of St. Peter's is polarizing, nor has it ever been.

A showcase for the hypocrisy of Pete Seeger, a so called progressive looking down his nose at the housing of the common man. Phony bastard.

That just got you put in my kill-file. Pretty ironic to hear YOU call someone else a phony bastard. Pete did more for the common man every day than you'd accomplish in a lifetime.

Looks like whomever drew it up had NEVER seen a REAL building, & consequently, had NO IDEA what to make a building LOOK LIKE.. Or, if you prefer, Mondo Bizzarro world, like Superman's good buddy.. IIRC, the Reynolds Metal building was initially "Shiny", but I after awhile, the owners got "Fed Up" w/all the complaints. The Reynolds Metals building, some of it was built in the late Fifties, early Sixties... Its sort of secluded-Right on US 250, Broad Street Road, when it was first done, & it was PRETTY lonely. You could take a short-cut thru there, but it was only opened in the daytime, & you took yr chances.. When it was built, its location was at the FAR west end of town. Now, you have Richmond going to Short Pump, which was in The Boonies when I was there.

You dislike me because I don't kiss your ass when you play the supercilious coffee guru.

I've no doubt I did more for working people than Seeger, day to day and every day; "in the trenches" as they say. And being a commoner myself I don't look down my nose at affordable, mass produced housing that allowed people to leave overcrowded apartments and rooming houses. Are you so witless as to not understand Seeger's hypocrisy?
