Tandberg TR 2060 No Sound Right Channel

Hi Tom,
as you can see from the schematic the phono input is wired such, that it will accept both 3 pin and 5 pin RCA turntable cables.
If the cable provided is DIY and wired the wrong way, it will not work for one channel.

The offset has no adjustment and it depends on the HFE and matching of the input pair transistors and resistors. It will always be negative by default. These -12mV and -19mV are good values, so nothing to worry about.

Glad to see this classic singing again! And yes, those relays are a common trouble item when they get dirty on Tandberg receivers and amplifiers. Nice work!
 
There is no adjustment for DC offset on this series. Bias is adjustable, offset is controlled by the circuit design & components. That's why those two Frako caps I harp about should always be replaced, as they cause DC to drift upwards with age. The TO-92 transistors clamped to the heat sink handle thermal adjustment to the bias, BTW.

You need to look at the DIN plug pin out on the manuals (usually will be shown at the end of the owner's manual if not in the actual schematic) and do some meter checking of your adapters. May have to move a wire over to a different pin depending on how they were wired, in order to have both channels. Not all DIN configs were created equal...

I have a TR 240 and had no sound from the left channel so I deoxited all pots and switches but still nothing. Then i tapped the relay a few times and turned volume up and down a few times and now both channels sing like birds, thanks to this post! Thanks TomHarrison1!!
 
jdurbin1 I have a question, how would one know if they are getting full stereo or just mono? My red light for stereo does not light up and when I push in the mono/stereo button I don't hear any change in the sound. TIA Dave
 
First, don't expect that relay fix to last for long. You'll need to use some deox on the relay contacts, or possibly replace it to make it fully reliable again.

The stereo indicator on these is an LED, not a lamp. Make sure it's plugged in the right way. If it's backwards it won't light up even if you are in stereo.

How much signal are you getting? If the meter indication is strong and no stereo separation is heard on FM stereo, it'll need expert attention either to align it correctly, or more likely, track down and repair whatever is keeping it from going into stereo. Could just be some monkey with a screwdriver turned pots that they shouldn't have touched, or it could have bigger problems. Easy tuners to work on though, in my experience.
