Tape Decks

This might be a stupid question for you guys but I’m still learning. I have 3 tape decks. 1 reel to reel, and 2 cassette decks. The kenwood receiver I have only has 2 spots for a tape deck. My question is can I use a RCA “splitter” instead of a RCA “switcher box” if I will only have 1 deck turned on at time ?

Thanks Jon

I have found these to be quite useful in connecting multiple decks to a receiver with a limited number of audio inputs and outputs. I know that Sony also used to make a switch box that you could connect several decks to and then select one of them to be connected to a receiver. That unit would also allow you to connect the output of one deck to the input of another for dubbing purposes.

If you had an ADC or other brand of Eq in line it can also give you several extra monitor features/buttons that you could use depending on the model as I have:)

DBX 200X is a good solution. It provides for 3 signal processors (selectable routing from pre or post processing) and 3 tape decks or other player/recorders. You can dub from any of the decks, to any of the other two, and monitor which ever one you wish.
