He's not even of German descent. That's what makes it even more annoying.

That is until Thorens moved to Germany in 1966 after which the Swiss accent was dropped in favor of the German pronunciation!!! 
Hey, glad we're all havin' some fun here.....all I can say is my TD160 is a treasure to me, especially since it was given to me by a very generous neighbor in whose garage it had been collecting dust for the better part of 25 years!! I was able to bring it out of the cobwebs intact and now provide him with multitudes of recorded music which he plays happily on his CD player! So, a win-win situation and everybody's a happy camper! I'm going over there this evening so I'll have to tell him about the "korrekt" pronunciation of his "Torenz....."
