TEAC A6010 Troubleshooting

Hello AK,

Recently acquired the TEAC A6010 and have a few issues with the physical reel it seems. I posted a short video of the issue and if you turn the audio up you can hear a "grind" or "tick" where it seems the tape is trying to twist or it gets caught on something.

I have attempted to use a different take up reel and a different reel for the media as well. Any advice is welcomed.

The outer flange of the take-up reel appears to be coming into contact with the tape as the reel turns. This can happen if the flange of the reel is bent. Since you are experiencing the problem with several reels, you may need to use a thin shim under the reel(s) which is usually necessary because the flange thickness of metal reels is less than that of plastic reels and therefore the inner surface of the outer flange sits closer to the reel table. Some folks make these shims from the cardboard used to construct cereal boxes.
