TEAC TN-300 Belt Drive Turntable Initial Impression and Review

Same veneer as S-300NEO speakers

Teac uses the same cherry veneer on its S-300NEO speakers. Answered my own question. It's real wood veneer. And it'll match those speakers beautifully. Nice.

It's a winner on looks

(not speaking about AKers) Most people in this price range market for a TT will not hear the difference between 0.2 and 0.05 w/f just IMO

I used 0.05 because I believe that is the w/f on my near the bottom of the line Technics SL-23

Very nice table. I've been looking at getting one of these with the cherry finish. And thank you for posting pictures of different views. And this positive review has me wanting to order myself one from Amaz as soon as they get some cherry finish tables back in stock.

Frank Sol is spot on, the Teak will be bought based only on looks (wood veneer) and unimpressive w/f will go unheard by buyers in this price range.

At least one 'big name' TT company will not even list the W/F of their entry level offering... Makes me think the worse

Tharbamar will enjoy his Teac :thmbsp:

I've been using this TT for over a month now and everything working great, no complains at all. I'm definitely enjoying it.,

Can I ask what you have your anti-skate set to? Manual said 2, but I find that when I place the needle at the beginning of a record, it jumps forward skipping the first few seconds of the track.
I've dropped it to 1 and it still does this on occasion.

Antiskate pushes the tone arm outwards, not inwards.

If you are skipping inwards you might have insufficient anti skate but it's more likely you are dropping the needle too far outboard on the sloped part of the outer rim.

What's your tracking weight set at?
Should be at 2 gram.
The AT95E is actually pretty good tracker as you can see my comparison video.

I actually re-checked it a couple days ago. It's set precisely to spec.

You can try set a bit higher weight like 2.2g.
I find it weird that Teac chose to use the AT95E for that mid to light weight arm. The AT95 is actually a low compliance cart and should be paired with mid to heavy weight arms.
