Hi guys I have a problem with my Teac A3340. It powers on fine everything works as it should however after about five mins I start to get distortion in both record and playback modes. The distortion becomes more noticeable as time goes on. Could this be faulty or failing Caps?

I will be interested in what others say. I have a A-3300SX that may have a similar issue. The music isn't distorted but there is a considerable background slightly garbled sound. It seems to be okay for a short time and then shows up but I admittedly have not checked the usual stuff out yet.. Also the line and output levels are very dirty and there is considerable dropouts on one channel which can be brought back by turning the levels back and forth. As of now I am not using the deck, waiting to get some tape that isn't pushing 40 years old before going further.

Get some DeOxit & clean your pots & switches. EXERCISE THEM A LOT AFTER SPRAYING (LIKE 50X BACK & FORTH)

That was the first thing I did. Cleaned all the switches and pots. I cleaned and de-magnetised the heads and tape path. I checked all connections and made sure the "C" links at the back of the machine were clean and properly connected. I'm now going to check voltages.

UPDATE: After doing some voltage checks decided to change the power board. fault has cleared. Thanks for your input.
