Techincs SB-A38 $30 Could Be A Steal??

I paid $3.99 plus tax for a pair of Marantz hd66.
Needed the cabs refinished and a refoam.

Stories like those are relatively rare, but maybe that's why the OP thinks sooner or later he'll get a screaming deal on something?
And he could. Next week, next year. 10 years from now. Nobody knows.
JMO, rather than buying 5 or 10 pairs of craptastic speakers which will have low if any resale value, buy one set of decent speakers.
Even if it costs the same as 5 or 10 pair of crapastic speakers they should sound better and have some value should a change be desired in the future.

I was planing to pickup the speakers tomorrow and the have already been sold to someone after we made a agreement I did not even get a asking me anything they were just sold  I was not fast enough to pick them up.

I have a great pair of Genesis in my garage system for at least a decade...paid 8 bucks for em. Of course they needed refoaming and not everyone is up for that.
Back before eBay and Craigslist were as well known, I used to get toms of cheap speakers (lots of EPI and Genesis) at yard sales. These days, almost everyone does their due diligence first, not that I can really find fault with that. I don't bother with yard sales any more either.

I seem to recall that the OP had bad luck at GW and thrifts, but I would continue to check them out for speakers, receivers, etc. It's all a matter of timing and maximizing opportunity. Good luck with the search!

Another thing, if your are serious about getting a good pair of speakers you might want to be flexible with your conditions. Your CL posting leaves a lot to be desired, you want specific speakers with specific measurements, yet your not willing to to go out of your way to acquire them.

For example:

"I not willing to drive 25+ miles away to pickup a set of speakers"

Another example:

"I might be able to do a trade a unused $50 Amazon gift card and $30 or might trade some CB Radio equipment"

My thought is most people who are going to sell their speakers are gonna want cash not an unused gift card or some CB radio equipment

On top of that you have competition in Houston, so you're going to have to step up your game.

too bad you didn't get those $30 speakers. That's not much money to check out and get substantive answers to the question! (would these be better than what I've got now)
I think too many here are ego-driven about inconsequential things:)

Where do you think you were getting a "substantive answer" from? If saying you can do better for $30 makes me "ego driven" I would suspect you haven't spent much time in this hobby.

A substantive answer would result from actually comparing the two speakers in question, personally and in his environment.
Ego driven about inconsequential things? Opinions are like assholes and even I have one!:)

OP clearly states his musical preferences in his sig.

Phat Beats Radio playing the best Rap Hiphop R&B Soul Funk from the 1970s to early 2000s www.phatbeatsradio.com

I'm sure the deep thump, slam, and high sensitivity of a tiny bookshelf speaker will render that rap and hip hop just like it's supposed to feel.

He needs speakers from the "neighbor hater" line.

Actually, saw a pair of CV D5's on his CL. But, the price was way beyond the OP's budget, like 180 or something. They would be perfect for the OP, and very likely would faithfully produce both the bass and overall SPL's that those GARBAGE Technics could only ever dream of.

Technics made a few decent speakers in the day. The model discussed here has nothing in common with them.
