I am not the best with electronics so pardon my inexperience.
I recently obtained a Technics CD player which was used in the music room of a retirement home for a couple years. It powers up, the laser moves, but it does not detect any discs, no spinning. Inside the dock, there's this blue gunk that's got all in the crevices of the tray mechanism which is a total pain to clean out. It doesn't look like it got on the circuit board or lens, only the top parts of the dock. I carefully cleaned off the lens with a cloth and tried to wipe up a bit of the mess to no avail. Not detecting discs seems to be a common problem, but I can't find anybody else who's found this stuff in their player. I don't think somebody stuck anything inside because it is truely all over the place! Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!!!
