Technics SL-1360 Ressurection

A friend of my girlfriend hit us up and offered us her dad's old Technics turntable. It's been sitting in a shed for years with some vinyl that she also threw our way - a lot of good stuff in there!

Here's some pics of our newest acquisition:

It's a little rough - but hey free is free! First things first was to go ahead and do a little bit of cleanup. Buffed the dustcover and cleaned off years of dust.

I tested all the functions and everything seems to work. Going to clean up the pitch control pots tonight and fix the ground cable then plug it in and see what kind of sound comes out of this thing!

It's hard to tell, is the plinth plastic or aluminum? If the latter, you can probably get some more of those stains off without damage.

Mild soapy water and a soft clean rag should give you a good start. Sometimes it's helpful to let the dirty parts soak for a few minutes, using either the rag or a damp paper towel on top of wherever the dirt is. Then some careful scrubbing (I'm not sure how the lettering was applied, so you want to be careful around it). Windex is another possibility.

Time for a little update- got the table going again! Got a new needle for the ADC cartridge and also had new Monster cables installed on it. The guy who put the cables in went through and it and cleaned everything up too. Looking very good and sounds great!
